stolen ideas?

currently i am in palm beach and resting... a well deserved vacation. it was a vacation until i annoyed myself by logging on to the sstyle.com blog finding an idea of mine to be completely ripped off. for my senior thesis last year i created a website and semi company where woman can create their own handbags-tote bags-for their personality ( in both the bag shape inside of the bag and its exterior)...
bagdip
their version (for men..also in canvas and create your own bag for men--painting, monogram, etc)
well maybe i wasnt ripped off -but i think that i am going to cultivate this idea. all the bags are hand painted-the handles interchangeable as well as the inserts..the "it" bag seems to be no longer about an it bag-now it is more about what works for the personality sporting it.

Picture 1
my version (one of the canvas bag shapes and two versions--the exteriors are snapped on and off so you can change the cover of the bags as you please-similar to a slip cover for a couch)

new look-s

beautyprada and moschino
inspiration from the 40's is evident in the clothing shapes (belted waist, broad shoulders)..as well as the makeup and hair. prada's a more rough cave woman look-really embellishing our struggle during this recession . i also find it interesting that a photo from n.y fashion week of a woman with a bouffant (sartorialist) resembles prada's hair as well- is she fashionably psychic or did prada use her as inspiration (after all the sartorialist is one of the most influential design websites..)

40's vogue spread - notice the fabric used resembles that of prada's coats, the broad shoulders, the fitted waist.

prada's fall 09 collection appears to have influences of women's clothing from the 1940's (early 40's when there were restrictions on the types of fabrics that could be used), a bit of a cave woman chic (the usage of fur, the rugged hair), a fisherman influence (the boots), there was also a bit of sex appeal altered (leather garters that connected to the boots)- one and one more thing i also spotted a bit of a punk rebel reference (the studs, the leather, the embellishments replacing studs on leather..)

reinventing classics

i love when classic pieces are reinvented. this jacket is absolutly breathtaking. the mixtures of fabric (color and textures), the incorporation of zippers (in the pockets, and by the wrists), and chain detail have a modern chanel-tech feel. the designers edward meadham and benjamin kirchhoff are brilliant at making classic staples that are versatile from day tonight. i think that this 2,000 dollar jacket is worth the ticketed price, it's a great item that can be worn with over 2000 outfits. pair it with jeans, tanks, leggings, an herve leger dress, i could go on..
