oscar worthy
these are my picks for the oscars from paris spring 09 couture collections.
from valentino:
i love the emphasis on the shoulders as well as the fabrication. the lines lengthen the silhouette. gorgeous.
a more modern, sexy, halston-esque design with different fabrication. the color is divine.
amazing draping. for the younger female actress.
audrey hepburn style dress, the rosebuds are magnificently done. love the shape of the bottom of the dress (actually the whole dress shape)
the beading is beautiful, as well as the colors.i wish he did without the feathers on the bottom of the dress. the shoes are also killleeerrr.
from elie saab:
beautiful proportions. the layering effect on the bustline is flattering. the draping along the waist creates both shape and length. check out the detail in the beading.
the color and manipulations as well as mixture of fabrics create a balance. gorgeous.
sexy, sedcutive, and sophisticated.
glamourous and beautiful fabrication along the sleeve. romantic with a twist of sophistication, the shoe is sexy as well. merly streep should pick this one up
the bigger skirt re-occuring trend, more youthful in shape. however, the longer sleeve makes it more wearable for the older actress. *i don;t love what it's doing to her calf.
the short sleeve and low v meet a lengthening drape, creating a balance in proportions throughout the figure. keira knightly should put this on.
shoter dressed with cropped dress with floral beading
another vionnet- esque dress. the shoulder emphasis creates a heightened glamour, the cinched waist and the beading are over the top, yet elegant.
breath-taking dress. a sweet sex appeal. adore the upper part of the bodice. soft glamour.
the manipulation of fabric is soft and extravagant. the fitted bodice and soft bulge at the hip create a womanly shape.
from chanel:
short sleeves, as well as the shape of the dress are definite trends in the spring 09 couture collections. the horizontal lines on the fabric nicely juxtapose against the floral scrunched fabric. i would wear this if i were going.
shortsleeved napkin look with beading
black roses on white dress nice shape
short sleeve with beading and floral shapes
from christian dior:
amazingly glamorous.
black nicely draped
from armani prive :
a sleek sihlouette with a nice subtle touch of ornate lace.
an elegant length with a seductive flair. cate blanchett should zip this on.

fantastical female
i love the work of jenny laden, it reminds me a bit of egon schiele's style. her line quality is amazing.
wet n' wild
kate is so great than any item she touches usually turns to gold, or in this case crocodile. after sporting hunter wellie boots jimmy choo caught on to the trend (2yrs later) and created a pair of his own. crocodile jimmy choo hunter boots will be available on march 1st.
