shocking ? at first i looked at isaac mizrahi's fall 09 collection and thought of a united colors of benetton add from the 90's, the next thought- surrealism.
elsa schiaparelli is clearly an influence on this collection. a combination of fashion and art. isaac plays up pieces (the bag in to hat), as schiaparelli turned a shoe in to a bag; a play on fashion, not only providing us not only with an object of fashion but also a bit of a laugh. after, going back through the collection i found that this is just what the doctor ordered (ha so cheesy),
mizrahi said that the collection was to make people happy at times like this using elements that are comforting to him:glitter and color (to name some of them). the pieces were created to provide a "smile" with names like 'xanaxer' and 'cosy'- aww isaac you're so thoughtful.
the pieces were bright in color, textures and shapes of garments nicely complemented one another. i particularly love the cut and fabric of the black dress.
