rip- rip- horray: a new recessionista trend

i wear skirts (which means opaque tights are worn underneath) and leggings every day (black ,charcoal, grey), not one for denims (although i do love high waisted jeans). my leggings have been worn so many times that they are beginning to collect quite few holes. people wonder why i still wear them, i have been confronted on several occasions, my response is "so what"(amazing response..but really i don't see the big deal). i like the look of rips, the only thing that stops me from going over board
(ie wearing one's with more than blatant holes-especially in tights) is the lack of appropriateness for specific dinners,etc..
the 50 pairs of black wolford tights and random purchases from duane reade have all gather quite a few rips, tares, and runs....i've worn pairs with just a slight run (after going through a whole basket of tights, trying on different pairs, pulling them on, and not being able to throw out the severely hooker looking one's...). every single pair i own are damaged, hanging out with a bunch of other cigarette holed, jewelry snagged pairs waiting to be worn. conveniently, rips and shreds covered the models legs (sorta) at monique lhuillier's pre fall 09 collection, much thanks to lhuillier for fully establishing the fact that holy tights are glamorous and we can now think twice before throwing out last nights tights..... i knew the trendsetter inside me was cultivating a new look. thankfully i did not order the new tights i've been meaning to buy.
